Robin Crossman is an illustrator and humor writer working out of Toronto Canada. His current projects include a bizarre if not somewhat interesting take on poultry entitled ‘The Sexy Chicken’. There is also the ‘The PUMPKIN project’ – a decidedly unimaginative title for a series of paintings and (very cool) sculptures of his (frequently) enslaved but often underestimated jack-o-lantern creatures. As well as a book (working title – “that thing I should really be working on”) of his
water color character paintings. The book will profile some of Robin’s unique birds and fish as well as a few other beasties that don’t fit comfortably into any recognized catalog of zoology.
In 2008 Robin was selected from a pool of artists to work with the Pearson Group – (parent company of Penguin Books) on a live presentation project in New York City. In 2007 he was chosen by the editor of California based ‘Executive Golfer Magazine’ (circ. 100,000) to become its first humor illustrator. Between 2007 and 2008 he created twelve unique paintings to accompany humor driven golf articles for national distribution within the pages of this exceptional publication.
Currently Robin is spending time on expanding and improving his galleries here at nuzart with an array of new images that will eventually find their way onto the site. You’ll soon find much of his character design and humor work on his Café Press site as well.
Robin is a film studies graduate from the Vancouver Film School. His work has been most notably influenced by the art of Dr. Seuss and the writing of Douglas Adams. His quirkier traits include (but are not limited too) a phobia of all things onion, screwing the cap back on his beverage bottle after each sip and writing about himself in the third person.
