Things we like: 100th anniversary of the symbol of London Underground

Posted in Artistas, Events, Fotografía, General, color, creatividad, dibujo e ilustración, exposiciones on Diciembre 27th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

londontube_fishbone-underground-small.jpg

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the symbol of London Underground and London’s transport system - the ‘Roundel’ - Art on the Underground commissioned 100 artists to make brand new works of art inspired by the Roundel as a contemporary symbol for a world class transport system. All 100 works were on display for three weeks in London’s East End. A selection is now exhibited on the Underground as posters in a range of formats and can be seen at St James’s Park, White City, Piccadilly Circus and Heathrow Underground stations.

The series demonstrates a contemporary vision of one of the world’s most recognised brands. Reflecting upon a tradition initiated by Frank Pick in the 1920s and 30s, the artists interpreted what the ‘logo for London’ means to them today, employing the Roundel as a symbolic element of their works as opposed to its more frequent use as a branding mark.Invited artists were drawn from an international pool of individuals connected to the Tube through its commissioning programme Art on the Underground. The collection reflects the programme’s support for artists at various stages in their careers, from recent graduates to artists with a worldwide reputation.

I don’t need inspiration, only a connection to the real world after a 15-days-period of holidays that has stolen my soul, sending me to a deep sensation of relaxation. It’s weird but at the same time, coming back to nuzart gives me more than that flush of freshness that we all need to land in a fantastic world. It’s great seeing all these new artists and works!… So welcome back to nuzart.com!

Not everybody can fly (that way).- Shanghai 2010 | Emilie R.

I’ve definitely become an unconditional fan of Emilie Record. An artist born in France in 1980 who followed art classes (drawing, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, sculpture) from 1986 to 1997.
She started to exhibit her work in France at age of 10. During this time she developed an accurate eye on shapes, lines, volumes and people, pulling her to become a designer.

She becomes an architect awarded by the French government in 2004. Strong of abilities to foresee tendencies and materials and attracted by cultural mixtures, she is joining the Chinese master Bing Thom in Vancouver (Canada) working on Arena Stage Theatre (Washington DC) and TTC University (Fort Worth, Texas). She gets hired later by the French AS Shanghai (Strasbourg Parliament, Paris Oriental World Institute IMA) and Philip Johnson where she won urban competitions in Asia. She then continued to work closer on Interior design projects and graphics, producing and developing powerful artistic concepts through sustainable approaches.

She now fully focuses on illustrations, paintings and graphic design.

Coming from her feelings, what she draws and paints is exhaling the strongest emotions and the most beautiful poses human are able to create. She’s just released a new series at nuzart.com: T World
