Recuerdos de Miriam

Hace unos días leí en un artículo de Eduard Punset sobre la memoria, una magnífica definición -poco convencional- de lo que para él es la fotografía. De una manera sutil e incluso científica,  definió “la Fotografía” con estas palabras: “La fotografía tiene algo de misterioso y profundo; es la única prueba de que el tiempo existe”.  Punset se refería sobre todo al recuerdo, y cómo a medida que envejecemos, nuestros recuerdos más remotos ganan terreno a los inmediatos debido a un tipo de proteína que se ocupa de asentar nuestros recuerdos en la memoria. Y en este sentido,  la fotografía, no sólo actúa refrescando nuestra memoria a través de instantáneas congeladas en el tiempo, sino que es la única prueba que tenemos del paso del mismo. A few days ago, I read in an interview with Eduard Punset about “Memory”, a wonderful and unconventional definition of what “Photography” means to him. In a subtle and even scientific way, he defined “Photography” in these words: Photography is something mysterious and profound; It’s the only proof we have that time exists. Punset related primarily to memory, and how as we age, past is remembered better than more recent events, due mainly to the dependence we have on a type of protein that sits memories in our mind.
