In a world awash in images, illustrations have become a powerful tool. Their principal source of inspiration are celebrities.

Illustration is an exuberant alternative that offers a more personal, emotional and on occasion, powerful image than photography. Another factor that has multiplied the use of illustrations is the increased interest in celebrities. Oils, ink, collage or even 3D illustration -among others-, are the diverse techniques used by today’s artists. The image shown above, is a Liz Taylor’s vector-art portrait designed by artist Jazmin.

Danielle Reck is an australian illustrator who has created her own world of illustrations: Pretty portraits of big eyed girls, decorated skulls and cute and creepy creatures filled with patterns. They remind me of those venetian masks, but perched on childish faces decorated with pastel color and unexpected designs. The use of soft colors and childlike gestures, give a different connotation to the skulls by converting them into sinous symbols.

Since Danielle was a small child, she has always adored drawing and filling spaces with as many patterns and textures as she is able. She’s studied a variety of art courses, one of which led her to a career in jewelry making. After 10 years of happily crafting pretty accessories, she decided to dedicate herself to her first love of drawing and illustration full time.

Her work primarily involves paper and black ink with colors added via Photoshop. She now looks forward to experimenting in the future with a variety of media.

Iván Pujol es un fotógrafo documental con sede en Barcelona.  Hace unos años, cuando Iván observaba las obras de grandes fotógrafos contemporáneos surgió, como si de un flechazo se tratase, su gran pasión…, su pasión por la fotografía.

Durante este breve pero intenso recorrido, no ha perdido ni un solo instante de su tiempo libre para aprender técnicas fotográficas, composición y procesado, formándose con grandes maestros de cada campo. Ha visualizado miles de imágenes, conocido a cientos de autores y leído decenas de libros fotográficos. Todo ello le ha dado una visión un tanto personal y especial en su manera de fotografiar, que sigue ganando terreno día tras día.

Tras ganar varios concursos y colaborar como fotoperiodista en varias revistas, podríamos definir su estilo fotográfico como un estilo que se basa en la fotografía documental de autor. En ellas plasma de la forma más artística posible, las emociones de cada instante, porque cada momento es único e irrepetible, contando las historias desde un punto de vista personal y creativo, y entregándose por completo en cada uno de sus proyectos.

Iván Pujol is a documentary photographer based in Barcelona (Spain). His passion for photography arose when, a few years ago, Iván discovered and observed the works of great contemporary photographers. Since then, during this brief but intense journey, he hasn’t lost or waste a single minute of his time to try new techniques, compositions and processes, and to learn with great masters of photography specializing in each field. All this has made a personal and very special vision on his way of doing photography, which is gaining ground every day.

After winning several competitions and working as a photojournalist in several media and magazines, we could define his style as a style which is based on “auteur/author documentary”.  In all his works he aims to reflect in the most artistic way possible, the emotions of each moment, because every single moment is unique and also irreplaceable, telling the stories from a very personal perspective and devoting himself to each of his projects.

SaverioKampa. Arquitectura solitaria

Arquitecto de formación,  SaverioKampa es fotografo por vocación y autodidacta en el apasionante mundo de la fotografía. Comenzó a mediados de los 90 con su primera cámara réflex analógica para documentar sus viajes, siendo fundamentalmente durante los dos años que vivió en Roma, cuando más intensamente desarrolló su afición y su técnica.

A través de sus fotografías,  SaverioKampa trata de aportar una visión formada y crítica sobre la plasticidad de las formas y un punto de vista que transmita con belleza la realidad y los volúmenes, en constante juego con la luz. Sus fotografías no tienen otra pretensión más que la de transmitir lo que siente en determinadas atmósferas y lugares, mostrando un especial interés por la fotografía nocturna,  ya que le permite destacar las cualidades de cada ciudad y su arquitectura solitaria expuesta con el juego escenográfico de la iluminación artificial.

SaverioKampa. Lonely architecture

SaverioKampa is a trained architect, but a self-taught photographer by vocation in the exciting world of photography. He began in the mid 90’s with his first analog SLR camera to document his travels, being mainly during the two years he lived in Rome, where he developed more intensely his love for photography and its techniques.

Through his photographs,  SaverioKampa aims to provide a trained and critical view on the plasticity of forms, and also a point of view forward, with beauty, the reality and the plasticity of volumes in constant play with light. His photographs have no other intention but to convey what he feels in certain atmospheres and places, showing aspecial interest in night photography because it allows him to highlight the qualities of each city and its lonely architecture, exposed to the theatrical play and effect of artificial lighting.
