nuzart.com entrevista a Vladimir Konovalov , un joven ukraniano con un indudable talento para la fotografía. La belleza natural de su ciudad natal al sur de la costa de Azov, ha ejercido una enorme influencia en su estilo creativo y en la manera que tiene de ver las cosas. Su fotografía nos traslada hasta lugares imaginarios procedentes de la realidad a través de su temática preferida y reincidente: aquélla que refleja paisajes casi mágicos captados con fotografías de larga exposición y que son capaces de mostrar en un sólo instante varios minutos de vida de la naturaleza.

nuzart.com: Te defines a tí mismo como “Soul of Autumn” (Alma de otoño)…¿Tiene algo que ver con cómo defines tu propio estilo?. Vladimir Konovalov:Creo que el tipo de fotografía que realizo atiende a una combinación de estilos diferentes que se unen entre sí formando una amalgama que muestra mi forma de ver el mundo. Intento no limitarme a un estilo fijo ni concreto para poder disfrutar así de más libertad a la hora de expresarme.
n: ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas haciendo fotografía?, ¿Cómo empezó todo?. VK: Mucha gente no se lo cree cuando les digo que tan sólo llevo dos años en el mundo de la fotografía, pero es cierto. Fue en 2007 cuando me compré una cámara dslr para realizar los proyectos de la carrera de arquitectura. Ni si quiera me planteé que mi vida podría cambiar tanto desde entonces. A pesar de que mi principal actividad profesional siga siendo la arquitectura, mi vida “fuera del estudio” ha cambiado considerablemente.
n: Es realmente fascinante lo que haces con los tiempos de larga exposición y los efectos que te permiten crear (la sensación mística del agua…etc). ¿Es ésta tu técnica preferida a la hora de fotografíar?. VK: Yo no diría que es mi método preferido, porque para mí cada escena y cada toma necesitan una técnica única para poder mostrar cada detalle de su belleza. Por eso mientras más métodos domines, más herramientas y más posibilidades tienes para captar una sensación concreta. Me encanta los tiempos de larga exposición para fotografiar la naturaleza; aportan la calma y soledad de la que normalmente carecen en el día a día.
n: ¿Qué opinas del proceso de retoque fotográfico para modificar y mejorar las imágenes?, ¿Qué ventajas y desventajas crees que tienen la fotografía digital y las nuevas tecnologías?. VK: Bueno, no podría decir que el post-proceso en general sea un crimen, a diferencia de lo que opinan muchos fotógrafos puristas, pero sí pienso que la principal desventaja que tiene es que muchísima gente ha dejado de creer en la belleza natural por sí misma. Para muchos de ellos es más fácil decir que es “photoshop”, en lugar de dejarse llevar y abrir sus corazones para creer en lo verdaderamente bello. Para mí la fotografía es “fotografía” hasta que se le añade algo. Todo lo demás, como por ejemplo los ajustes de color, son simplemente un intento para que algo concreto perdure en la imagen y en el tiempo.
n: ¿Qué fotógrafos o artistas te inspiran?, ¿Alguno favorito?. VK: Mis principales fuentes de inspiración son la belleza de la naturaleza y mis proyectos de arquitectura. En lo referente a los artistas y fotógrafos, no escogería ninguno concreto por el que me sienta especialmente inspirado ya que son muchos los que han ejercido una gran influencia en todas mis obras y en la manera que tengo de ver las cosas.
n: ¿Cuál es tu localización preferida para hacer fotos?. VK: El mar y la costa son mis lugares favoritos…estén donde estén.
n: ¿Cuándo decidiste unirte a nuzart.com?. VK: Hace unas semanas navegando por la red encontré por casualidad un link a nuzart.com, y decidí echar un vistazo a la web. Tras dar un paseo por nuzart.com me di cuenta de que era el lugar idóneo para exhibir y promocionar mi arte y a su vez poder conocer el fabuloso trabajo que exponen otros artistas.
n: ¿Estás trabajando actualmente en algún otro proyecto?. VK: Sí, pero sobretodo estoy centrado en seguir haciendo fotos y en disfrutar al máximo de todo el proceso que ello conlleva.
n: Ya estamos deseando ver tus nuevas obras…!

nuzart.com interviews Vladimir Konovalov, a young Ukrainian with an undoubted talent for photography. The natural beauty of his hometown located in the south of the coast of Azov, has exerted an enormous influence on his creative style and in the way he observes the world. His photography moves us from reality to imaginary places through his favorite and repeated theme: magical landscapes captured in long exposure photographs that show in an only instant a few minutes of nature life .
nuzart.com: You describe yourself as a “Soul of Autumn”…How would you define your own style?. Vladimir Konovalov: I think my photography is a combination of different styles that are united by the way I face the world. I try not to assosiate myself with definite direction or photography school because it gives you much more freedom in manner you express yourself.
n: For how long have you been doing photography, and how did it all start?. VK: Many people don’t believe that I’m only 2+ years in photography. But it is true. It’s all started in 2007 when I purchased dslr camera for my architectural studies. But I didn’t thought how it will turn my life since then. Architecture is still my preffered profession, but my “out of studio” life has changed greatly.
n: It’s amazing what you can do with long exposure time and the effects that you can create (the mystic feel of the water…) Is this your preferred method of taking photographs?. VK: I would’t say that it is a preferred method, because I believe that every scene and theme needs a unique technique to show every aspect of its beauty. That’s why the more methods you know - the more “tools” you own to catch the definite feeling. Long exposure is my beloved technic which I often use for nature photography. It brings solitude and calm to the scene which I lack time to time in everyday life.
n: What is your opinion on post-processing, especially enhancing pictures? What are the advantages and disadvantages of digital photography and technology?. VK: Well. I can’t say that post-processing in general is a crime as many nature photographers claim today, but I think that the main disadvantage of it is that a lot of people has ceased to believe in natural beauty. For many of them it’s easier to say “it’s a photoshop” than to open their heart and to believe in truth. As for me personally the photograph remains a photograph untill something foreign is added. Everything else like tight adjustments do pretend to stay.
n: From which artists/photographers do you get inspired? What inspires you the most? VK: Natural beauty and my architectural work is the main source of inspiration. Concerning different artists and photographers I won’t mark out definite names by which I get inspired because there were too many wonderfull people who has influenced on my current work and vision.
n: Where is your favorite location to take pictures?. VK: The sea coast is my favourite one… wherever it is.
n: When did you decide to join nuzart.com?. VK: Several weeks ago. I’ve found a link to nuzart.com somewhere on the internet by pure accident. So I decided to take a look on it. After taking a tour I’ve understood that it’s a good place to promote my own art and to find out other artist’s great work.
n: Are there any projects you are currently working on?. VK: Yes, there are. Though the main one is to continue taking photographs and enjoying the process.
